Every bit makes a big difference

Every bit makes a big difference

Explore how tiny changes can create a significant impact on our world. Giving no matter how big or small helps to create change. Every bit makes a big difference.

Does my giving make a difference

Giving £1 towards a fundraiser at £999 would help meet the goal of £1000. If 1 million people decided to give £1 this would generate £1000000. Sometimes a small contribution may appear like it is insignificant in the grand scheme of things but it does all add up at the end of the day. It could influence someone else to give at the start. It could influence someone to give the remaining amount at the end. It can be a fuelling force behind a specific change.

How a church building is formed

Nothing in this world comes for free and I assure you this especially applies to building spaces. Your contribution alone may not be able to build a new church but when it is combined with a community of givers it makes it very possible. Perhaps the chair in the church may have only come about because of your contribution. The musical equipment that you hear during a praise session may have only been possible due to that fiver you gave the other day. The only reason people can hear the pastor is because your given mean’t a microphone could be used to amplify the preaching. That tenner mean’t an ad could be on social media or tv helping to reach others.

Giving from a good place

It is very easy to get carried away with your giving and become self-absorbed on how good you are as a person. Giving in secret without a PR stunt is the optimal way to please God. It is very easy to seek validation from others or in more extreme cases seek praise for your noble actions. When performing an action ensure to be genuine in your exchange and not have an ulterior motive.

What is the right amount to give

This should be based on what you have decided to give based on your heart and not by force. If you give too much, you may put yourself into financial difficulty in more extreme cases. If you give too little then it is not coming from a place of discomfort but excess. For example, a adult worker who earns £100000 a year contributing £1 to the church is different from a 10 year old child giving his only £1. They both did the same action but it comes from different positions.

Take Home

Give where you have the influence to make a difference. You using £3.00 towards a coffee and cake may seem insigicant but for someone on the streets it could help them take a bus or 2 from A to B instead of walking.

Call To Action

If you see an opportunity to give, do so with the mindset of being part of the collective difference for a big change.

Bible Verses

Luke 24:1-4 – Now He looked up and saw the wealthy putting their gifts into the temple treasury. And He saw a poor widow putting in two lepta coins. And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all contributed to the offering from their surplus; but she, from her poverty, put in all that she had to live on.

2 Corinthians 9:6-8 – Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver
