How Do I Receive When I Give?

When you give to others it creates an opportunity for God to give you in other areas in your life. Perhaps you are seeking a promotion, a new job, a house, or in general you have a need. Do not forget in the same way you need something to happen to receive your breakthrough never forget you are the breakthrough for someone else. Givings creates ways for you to receive.

A 2008 study by Harvard Business School professor Michael Norton and colleagues found that giving money to someone else lifted participants’ happiness more than spending it on themselves (despite participants’ prediction that spending on themselves would make them happier).

Like anything giving should be done sensibly and there is a risk of giving beyond your means if you are not careful. The heart and mindset you give is the most important component. For example, you can give with a mindset of receiving something in return (business deal, attention, etc) or with an ulterior motive that may not be sincere.

If you have the opportunity in your day to day life, give to someone. It could even be something as small as a smile.
